Jonathan Nguyen, Ogilvy, Regional Strategy Director on “Social Networking for Business”

Jonathan is a member of Ogilvy’s 360 Digital Influence team.

Jonathan has had a long and sometimes tumultuous relationship with the Internet stretching back before the dot com crash (1.0). He was recruited by Concert Global Networks in 2000 to manage Australian clients of its cloud implementation of Commerce One, called MarketSite. In 2001 Concert, conked out.

Luckily for Jonathan, he was offered a job in parent company AT&T, where he sheltered in the relative safety of a large telecommunications carrier. That was, until the telecommunications industry collapsed.  At this point, in house I.T looked like a much safer bet and Jonathan worked as an architect in small and large enterprises, from Extentia to Coca-Cola.

With 10 years of I.T under his belt Jonathan took his technology experience into a communications role with Howorth where he helped organisations like Microsoft, Intel and Telstra tell their stories to traditional media whilst evangelising about social media. In July 2009 he was asked to work for 360 DI full time.

Since then he has developed social media programs and tactics for a wide range of clients such as Microsoft, Intel, IBM, KFC, LG, Tourism NSW, and Ford. He has worked on and led several high profile digital issues and crisis management programs for major international brands including Ford, LG, KFC and most recently BP.

Jonathan is a part-time lecturer at APM (Think Education) on social media and is a speaker at the Search Marketing Expo (SMX) and Social Media Bootcamp series.

Jonathan holds a diploma in marketing and public relations
